(June 24, 2014): Al Jolson with 4 Hits & A Miss and Matty Malneck & His Orchestra – After You’ve Gone

From the 1950 a-side single, After You’ve Gone / Chinatown, My ChinatownBoth tunes were featured in the 1949 movie “Jolson Sings Again” sans Al Jolson (Larry Parks plays Jolson), but with Jolson dubbing the soundtrack.  Jolson died in 1950, shortly after this Decca single was released.  Decca was responsible for releasing five 4×10″ 78 rpm collections from 1946-1951 that updated a number of the Jolson hits from the teens and twenties: In Songs He Made FamousSouvenir Album, Volume Three, Souvenir Album Volume 4, and Souvenir Album – Volume 5, which I still have from my Grandpa.
