(December 8, 2016): George Shearing – It Never Entered My Mind

From the 1978 album, The Many Facets of George Shearing.  This song started out as a Rogers and Hart show tune in 1940 and was popularized by Frank Sinatra in 1955 with its inclusion on the classic LP, In The Wee Small Hours. This arrangement by Shearing puts me in mind of Erik Satie’s Gymnopedie No.1.  It also appears on a bonus disc that accompanied the 2001 reissue of Shearing’s 1957 LP, The Shearing Piano.
