(November 8, 2016): Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart – L.U.V. (Let Us Vote)

From the 1969 single L.U.V. (Let Us Vote) / I Wanna Be Free.  Boyce & Hart are, of course, the ones we hold responsible for The Monkees’ songbook. If you are old enough, you might remember that Boyce & Hart were commissioned to write this tune as the official campaign song for the Let Us Vote movement to lower the voting age to 18 in the U.S., which the 26th Amendment made a reality in 1971.  However, it can also serve as a happy anthem in today’s world of continuing attempts by the GOP to suppress and disenfranchise voters.
