(April 30, 2016): Eric Clapton – Let It Grow

K-SHE Classic. From the 1974 album, 461 Ocean Boulevard.  The history of this second sweetmeatsolo LP by Clapton is well-known.  It marked his triumph over heroin and depression and followed the star-studded 1973 Rainbow Concert (and LP) that Pete Townshend organized to prompt Clapton to work again.  It’s mostly covers, but this is a heartfelt original.  Derek and the Dominos bassist, Carl Radle is part of the band here.  So is Yvonne Elliman, pre-Saturday Night Live.  The album takes its title from the street address in Golden Beach, Florida, where Clapton lived while recording the album.
