(June 28, 2014): Henry Thomas – Bull Doze Blues

From the 1928 shellac 10″ 78rpm single, Bull Doze Blues / Old Country Stomp.  Many will recognize this as the melody behind Canned Heat’s “Going Up The Country” off their 1969 double LP, Living the Blues (obviously the lyrics are different). I no longer have my physical copy of that album, but searching it online fails to disclose an attribution made to Thomas.  Indeed, if you scroll down the photos of the gatefold LP and labels on this page, you will see that credit appears to go to Alan Wilson.
