(June 15, 2014): MC5 – Kick Out The Jams

From the 1969 album of the same name, Kick Out The Jams.  I wish I could say that this was a K-SHE Classic, but like The Stooges (another pathbreaking Michigan band), MC5 did not make the play list in the late 1960s (although they were picked up later in the 1970s).  The entire album was recorded live at Russ Gibb’s Grande Ballroom in Detroit, on October 30-31, 1968.  This is the uncensored version.  Elektra also released a version of the LP on which Rob Tyner screams out in the intro, “Kick out the jams, brothers and sisters”.   This live performance by the band gives some idea of what an MC5 live performance must have been like.
