(June 13, 2014): Gizelle Smith & the Mighty Macambos – Working Woman

From the 2009 album, This Is Gizelle Smith & The Mighty Macambos.  A European affair that sounds straight out of some late 1960s U.S. soul production.  The album had releases in France and Germany and the players are mostly Hamburg based.  Perhaps not so surprising, given that Smith’s real name is Gizelle Françoise Jeanine Golebiewski, that she was born in Manchester, and that her Seychellois mother has a French background.  Her dad is Joe Smith, who used to play guitar as a session man for the Four Tops in the early 1970s.
