(May 4, 2013): Frank Sinatra with the Jeff Alexander Choir – Nature Boy

From the 1948 A side of the 78 rpm single,  Nature Boy / S’posin’.  As mentioned yesterday, this is the other Sinatra tune of which I have the earliest memories as a small boy in the 1960s.  In 1948, though, the #1 hit with this Eden Ahbez song belonged to Nat King Cole.  Ahbez, himself, was later influential on the hippie movement.  Listening to the tune as a kid, it was natural to think of myself as growing up to be like the nature boy.  Too bad I never acquired the wisdom.  Instead, the nature boy today reminds me today of the character M. Gustave in The Grand Budapest Hotel, which I just saw.
