RIP Jim Hall

From the 1957 album, Jazz Guitar.  Another guitar great gone.  This is Hall’s first outing as trio leader.  Carl Perkins on piano and Red Mitchell on bass. Unfortunately, Pacific Jazz owner Richard Bock heavily edited later versions of this release — as he did with so many other sessions out of the Pacific Jazz catalogue.  Because the masters were lost, the vinyl is now the only way to hear the original recording.  ebay has the LP going for 249.00.
