From the 1974 live album, Artistry. Trying to get over the slumping Redbird’s loss of the 2013 WS with the help of some St. Louis Blues. This tune was recorded live at the first “rock” concert I saw — with my parents — at the Mississippi River Festival (MRF) held at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois in June, 1974. The MRF was to be a great time throughout the 1970s — a decade not too kind to the Cardinals.
Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra’s second recording of the song in late 1929, released as the 1930 b-side single, After You’ve Gone / St. Louis Blues, however, is still the best.
