(Sept 27, 2013): Cecil Scott & His Bright Boys – Lawd, Lawd

From the 1929 A-side of the 78rpm 10″, Lawd Lawd / In A Corner.  Hotsy totsy, washboard stuff.  Bill Coleman (trumpet), Don Frye (piano), Harold McFerran (alto sax), Frankie Newton (vocals), Scott (clarinet), Dickie Wells (trombone), and John Williams (alto sax).  This is a recording from the first year that Scott was a band leader.  Over the course of a long career, mostly as a sideman, he would play with Roy Eldridge, Johnny Hodges, Teddy Wilson, Art Hodes, Red Allen, Clarance Williams, Billie Holiday, and others.
