(June 3, 2013): Gabin – Sweet Sadness

From the 2002 debut self-titled album, Gabin.  This Italian “nu-jazz” duo (Filippo Clary and Max Bottini).  They take their name from the 1930s french anti-hero, Jean Gabin.  Allmusic.com notes that Cary is a DJ, and had spent much of the ’90s presiding over chill rooms in Rome’s major venues. Bottini, a jazz bassist, had spent the past decade performing with the likes of John Scofield and Billy Coghan.  Their more recent work includes collaborations with Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice), Nicola Conte, and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden).
