(May 2, 2013): Roy Buchanan – Can I Change My Mind

K-SHE Classic.  From the 1975 live album, Live Stock.  Despite the doleful subject mattersweetmeat of the lyrics, this tune, for me, was always a favorite tune to “cruise” with in high school.  There is just something so smooth and open air about Buchanan’s guitar.   This track was recorded in New York City at Town Hall in November 1974.  The backing band is made up of Bill Price (vocals), John Harrison (bass), Malcolm Lukens (keyboards), and Byrd Foster (drums/vocals).  The same group would go on to record my favorite Buchanan album, the 1977 Loading Zone.  It took me until I moved to Australia to appreciate that the cover photo is a butcher shop located in Parramatta, a suburb of Sydney.
