(Mar 19, 2013): Firehouse Five Plus Two – A Hot Time In The Old Town

From the 1964 album, Goes To A Fire!  This one goes out to my grandpa who would have been 100 years old today.  He used to play dixieland and hot jazz on piles of 78s and listen to Lawrence Welk every Saturday night (on which Firehouse Five Plus Two appeared).   Firehouse Five Plus Two was a 1950s Los Angeles jazz revival band.  Ward Kimball, an ace animator and director at Walt Disney Studios, was the trombonist leader.  I can picture my grandpa knocking out the beat to this late 19th Century classic Metz and Hayden tune on the arms of a big orange easy chair.
