(Feb 12, 2013): Harvey Mandel – Just A Hair More

From the 1969 album, Righteous.  Harvey Mandel (Henry Vestine) was one of Frank Zappa’s original Mother’s of Invention, but left before the debut Zappa album (although 1965 Zappa demo tapes featuring Mandel were released in 2004) to become a founding member of Canned Heat.  He was a regular member of the band from 1966 to 1969, when he went solo — releasing two albums under his own name in 1969 alone.  Mandel was prolific as a solo artist through the mid-1970s, but then did not return to the studio until the mid-1990s, shortly before his death.  This album features Bob Jones, who played guitar with Michael Bloomfield and drums for Brewer and Shipley.  Duane Hitchings, who played with the Buddy Miles Express, is on organ.
