(Jan 30, 2013): John Harbison – Four Songs Of Solitude

From the 2003 album, Four Songs of Solitude * Variations * Twilight Music. Harbison has been a force in classical music since the early 1980s.  He has written operas (including The Great Gatsby commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera), symphonies, string quartets, and a Pulitzer winning cantata.  This piece was composed in 1985 as a gift to Harbison’s wife, who gave the first performance at Harvard University in 1986.  Spectrum Concerts Berlin perform on the album.  On this composition Janine Jansen is on violin.
