(Nov 25, 2012): Ralph Vaughan Williams – The Lark Ascending

From the 1997 recording by the English Northern Philharmonia, David Lloyd-Jones conducting, Job/Lark AscendingOne of the most recognizable compositions by Williams, “Lark Ascending” was written in 1914 and revised (as in the habit of Williams) in 1920.  After its orchestral revision, it was first performed in the old Queen’s Hall in London in June of 1921 by the British Symphony Orchestra under Boult.
