(Nov 3, 2012 – Sat. bonus): Wes Montgomery – Wind Song

From the 1968 album, Down Here On The Ground.  This LP was recorded at Van Gelder’s New Jersey studio and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder himself.  Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Grady Tate, and a variety of orchestral players and there are arrangements by Emir Deodato. The title track, “Down Here on the Ground” is a cover of Shifrin’s theme song for the movie Cool Hand Luke.  The album represents the start of a shift for Montgomery away from traditional forms to more popular lounge music.
