(Nov 2, 2012): Donald Byrd – The Dude

From the 1970 album, Electric Byrd.  Donald Byrd was in the middle of a transition from his more purist early work to jazz fusion on this album.  It deserves more credit than it gets.  “The Dude” is shifting post bop and hard funk.  The players here include Pepper Adams (clarinet), Ron Carter (bass), Duke Pearson (electric piano), Frank Foster (sax), Wally Richardson (guitar), and Airto Moreira (drums).
