(Oct 18, 2012): Skip Battin – St. Louis Browns

K-SHE Classic. From the 1972 self-titled solo album, Skip Battin.  The song also appears as the b-side of the 1973 single, Central Park/St. Louis Browns.  It tells the story of the move by the St. Louis Browns to Baltimore — one the first moves by a professional sports team from home town to expansion town, including the tale of the unique collection of players that Bill Veeck (as in wreck) put together.  Battin played with a host of bands from 1955 onwards.  At the time this LP was recorded, Battin was also a member of the Byrds (1970-1973).  He went on to play with the New Riders of the Purple Sage (1974-1976).
