(Oct 15, 2012): Lionel Hampton – Regina’s Drag

From the 1956  Club Français du Disque 10″ LP, Mai 56 n° 1 & 2.  Instead of mallets, Hampton is burning up the piano here.  This hot jazz throwback was composed by Hampton and recorded in Paris with Paul Rovère (bass), Albert “June” Gardner (drums), Billy Mackel (guitar), Eddie Chamblee (sax), Ed Mullens (trumpet).  The tune was re-released in 2001 on Universal’s Gitanes label, Mai 1956.
