(Oct 8, 2012): Charles Kynard – Wa-Tu-Wa-Zui (Beautiful People)

The title track from the 1971 Prestige release, Wa-Tu-Wa-Zui (Beautiful People).  Kynard hailed from St. Louis and became a Hammond B3 virtuoso in Los Angeles.  During a 10 year period from 1963 to 1973 Kynard released nine solo albums which included appearances by Joe Pass, Les McCann, Houston Person, Grant Green and Idris Muhammad.  His recordings have been sampled repeatedly in recent times, no doubt on account of his soul/funk leanings.  Melvin Sparks is on guitar here.
